he hate campaign launched against north Indians in Maharashtra had its

echo in Ranchi on Thursday when hundreds of Lok Janshakti
Party workers went on
the rampage inside a local cinema hall to stop the screening of a Bollywood movie.

The agitators were protesting the ban on the release of Deshdrohi, a film on atrocities on north Indians in Maharashtra, by the Maharashtra government. They shouted slogans demanding that no Bollywood movie should be screened in Jharkhand until the Maharashtra government permits the screening of `Deshdrohi' in its state.

Slogans against MNS chief Raj Thackeray rent the air as the protesters went around tearing the posters of `Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi' that is being shown in the theatre. Later, a memorandum was given to the manager of the cinema hall, urging him not to screen Bollywood movies any more.

The screening of the Rajshri movie, stopped due to the disturbances, resumed after about an hour when policemen reached the spot. Around 24 LJP workers were picked up by police and later released.

LJP leader Jitender Singh said if the ban on `Deshdrohi' was not lifted by Maharashtra, his party activists would continue to disturb the screening of other Bollywood movies in the cinema halls of Jharkhand.
